Surgeons Pull Out Hairball From 11-Yr-Old Girl's Stomach

Surgeons at a hospital in Taraz, southern Kazakhstan were stunned after removing a hairball from an unnamed 11-year-old girl’s stomach during a surgical operation.
According to Daily Star, the youngster was taken to the hospital after suffering from a severe stomach ache and loss of appetite and could not as much as take in a glass of water.

The doctors could not ascertain the reason for the girl’s discomfort until they carried out the surgical operation and made the bizarre discovery from her stomach.
The huge ball of hair measured about 17cm across the stomach and around 35cm into the girl’s bowel and the parents confessed to have spotted their daughter chewing her long hair, but were unaware she was swallowing it.

Medically, the condition is known as Rapunzel syndrome while the Scientists, who called the hairball a ‘trichobezoar’ expressed confidence that their patient would eat and drink again.
