A popular Nigerian comedian based in Cyprus, Udumioh Jerry,
allegedly stabbed one Ebinabo Mendeinyo, to death. The incident
allegedly took place on Saturday December 26.
North Cyprus police debunked earlier claims that the deceased jumped
from the 6th floor of his apartment building out of fear when some
unidentified boys, in company of the comedian fondly called MC Jerry,
came to confront him.
The police pointed out that they found stab wounds on Mendeinyo’s body, Daily Mail reports.
MC Jerry, who doubles as a comedian and event host, was the first person the police arrested in connection with the murder.
He was apprehended and charged with murder, trespassing, kidnapping and serious assault.
The reason for the murder is yet to be ascertained, however, a police
source alleged that the fight started on Christmas eve at a certain
party.
According to the police source, the fight was allegedly over a Zimbabwean girl.
Reports revealed that the deceased was stabbed multiple times by about six boys alleged to be fellow Nigerians.
The assailants reportedly drove to the house of a friend to the
deceased, kidnapped the fellow and forced him to take them
to Mendeinyo’s house.
They made Mendeinyo’s friend knock so that the victim would open the door without suspecting.
However, when he opened the door, he was allegedly stabbed and his throat slit.
The police say investigations are still ongoing, as some of the accomplices to the murder are yet to be arrested.
