There was wind of sorrow on Friday, December 25, in
Imilike-Agu, a community in Udenu local government area of Enugu state,
after a youth identified as Anselm Ugwuoke, reportedly killed his
60-year-old father, Paulinus Ugwuoke.
The Punch reports that Anselm who is currently on the run killed his father on Christmas Day at about 10.00pm.
It was gathered that Anselm and some of his friends had a heated
argument with his father in their family house, and in the process
Anselm struck his father with a heavy object. Sources say the victim
collapsed, and became unconscious and died shortly after.
It was further gathered that after observing that his father had died, Anselm and his friends took to their heels.
Speaking with newsmen, elder brother, Sunday Ugwuoke, said Anselm is
yet to be arrested, adding that he was very shocked and saddened with
the unfortunate incident. He urged the police to and other security
agencies to make sure Anselm was apprehended and made to face the full
wrath of the law.
He expressed believe that Anselm would not get away with the crime, saying: “I am still in shock over what has happened but I know we will still get Anselm.”
Confirming the sad incident, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, the state police
command spokesman said the police was on Anselm’s trail already.
The force spokesman said the police was also investigating the
incident, and that the corpse of the man had been deposited in a
mortuary.
Amaraizu said an autopsy would be conducted on the corpse.
