Shehu Yusuf, a 28-year-old security guard, has been paraded
before a Gudu Upper area court for grossly defiling a girl who just
10-years-old.
Prosecutor, Urom Out told the court that Yusuf, a resident of Wuye,
Abuja, was allegedly caught dipping his finger into the private part of a
10-year-old girl
According to Urom, one Aisha Mohammed of Wuye, Abuja, reported the
matter at the Wuye police station on Sunday, December 27, 2015. Urom
further said that the offence contravened Section 285 of the penal code.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty, saying that he was unjustly beaten up by six men in his house over the matter.
Yusuf also said that when he was invited to the police station his property was stolen by unknown men.
His Counsel, Missa Akintola, applied for his bail, stressing that the accused was still innocent until proven guilty.
The judge, Alhaji Umar Kagarko, granted bail to the accused in the
sum of N100, 000 with one reliable surety who must reside within the
court’s jurisdiction.
While adjourning the case, Kagarko ordered the police to verify the
residence of the surety and investigate the claimed stolen property.
He added that the police should submit the reports of their investigations to the court on Tuesday, January 12.
